IPv6 adoption

Although IPv6 has been around in some form for a quarter-century, adoption has been relatively slow over the past twenty years. However, with the exhaustion of available IPv4 address space and the growth in connected devices, IPv6 plays a critical role in the future of the Internet. Analysis of traffic to the Cloudflare network provides us with insights into IPv6 adoption across the Internet.

Per-country IPv6 adoption

This map illustrates IPv6 adoption in countries around the world as measured by request traffic to Cloudflare's network. The darker the shading, the greater the percentage of requests to Cloudflare made over IPv6. Hover over a location to see its IPv6 adoption level, or adjust the slider on the gradient bar to highlight countries with the selected level of adoption. Save the underlying data or a copy of the graph using the icons in the lower right corner.

This graph illustrates trends in IPv6 adoption by location (and worldwide) since September 19, 2020, including the percentage of IPv6 request traffic from mobile devices. Select a location of interest using the “Filter Location” dropdown in the upper right of the graph, and save the underlying data or a copy of the graph using the icons in the lower right corner.
